Quinten Coblentz, once seen as an up-and-coming Christian Hip-Hop artist, has solidified his place in the music industry as a Grammy and 5-time Dove award-winning producer and songwriter, as well as a gifted cinematic composer. His work has spanned a wide variety of genres, and has been featured in films, TV shows, and ads across the globe.

Quinten was born and raised in the small town of Hartville, Ohio. After graduating high school in 2012, he immediately began pursuing a career in music. By 2016, his production resume included work on hip-hop projects such as Shopé’s When It’s Real: Truth Be Told, and Dru Bex’s Imperfect Messenger. He had also begun writing and recording some of his own songs - at the time mostly an upbeat blend of Christian hip-hop and pop.

In 2017 Quinten independently released his debut solo album Sahara, and was featured as a vocalist on several notable projects, including Shai Linne’s Still Jesus and Deraj’s Goodish.

After releasing three standalone singles in 2018, Quinten joined RMG Amplify’s artist roster in early 2019, releasing two additional standalone singles before rolling out his sophomore album We. The album’s lead single “From the Roof (feat. YB)” quickly became his most-streamed song, leading to a remix contest which resulted in the “From the Roof Remix” which was released in September. Quinten finished the year with a three-song Christmas EP, Some Songs I Wrote About Christmas, showcasing his live instrumentation skills in the warm, bluesy production of the project.

2019 also saw the start of Quinten’s work in sync licensing, as he joined forces with MSCMKRS to quickly create an impressive collection of music aimed for placements in TV, films, and ads.

In 2020, Quinten teamed up with songwriter and producer Wes Writer to form WEARETHEGOOD, and the duo wasted no time in stacking up writing and production credits, including KB’s Dove Award nominated single “10K” and four additional songs on his ensuing album His Glory Alone, which took home the Dove Award for Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year.

In the same year, WEARETHEGOOD received another major songwriting credit in Lecrae’s single “This Is My Time”, which was produced by Boi-1da and was featured in the Spider-Man: Miles Morales video game and trailer.

Additionally, 2020 marked the debut of SONNY OH!, a collaborative brand consisting of Quinten and Jared Wells / Deraj. Their first EP Neue Vintage, led by the nostalgic single “Upside Down”, was met with strong enthusiasm from listeners.

In 2021, WEARETHEGOOD produced a remix of Casting Crown’s “Start Right Here”; the remix featured KB and blended trap production with the Christian-contemporary style of the original song. Quinten’s production was also featured in the National Geographic documentary film Rise Again: Tulsa and the Red Summer, and in promotional materials for the Disney film Cruella, the NHL, and video games such as Fortnite, Madden NFL 22, and Call of Duty: Mobile. His work as a producer and engineer also appeared in a variety of television shows, including All-American, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and more.

2022 yielded two additional Dove Awards for Quinten and WEARETHEGOOD as producers, winning in the categories of Rap/Hip-Hop Song of the Year (“King Jesus” - KB, nobigdyl.) and Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year (No Church In A While - Lecrae, 1K Phew). 2022 also marked the theatrical release of the musical It’s Christmas Again, for which WEARETHEGOOD wrote and produced all of the music, as well as made a cameo appearance in the film.

In 2023, WEARETHEGOOD received another two Dove Awards, once again winning as producers in the categories of Rap/Hip-Hop Song of the Year (“Graves” - KB, Brandon Lake) and Rap/Hip-Hop Album of the Year (Church Clothes 4 - Lecrae). Quinten additionally received his first nomination outside of hip-hop in the category of Worship Recorded Album of the Year (Lamb of God [Live] - Matt Redman), as a co-writer on the song “Halfway Empty”.

In February 2024, WEARETHEGOOD won their first Grammy award for their contributions to Lecrae’s Church Clothes 4, winning in the category of Best Christian Contemporary Music Album.

Born on Christmas Eve of 1993, Quinten was a highly artistic child, even from an early age. The oldest of three brothers, he loved to draw pictures and sing, and began taking piano lessons at the age of 7. He started his education through homeschooling, which he would continue until high school.

As a pastor’s kid, Quinten was highly involved in church life and events, and made the decision to be baptized at the age of 11. Around this time he also began playing piano with the worship team at church on a regular basis. As a teenager, Quinten continued to grow in his faith and his love of music. He discovered Christian hip-hop in his early teens and soon began trying to make beats on his family’s home computer. He also learned to play the guitar, drums, and bass.

In the fall of 2012, after graduating high school, Quinten completed the 5-week CORE Program at Recording Workshop (RECW) in Chillicothe, Ohio. He returned home and began working as an upholsterer’s assistant, while making music and attempting to sell beats and mixes in his spare time. He had also begun giving music lessons to a few local children, which gradually grew into a consistent side business with over twenty students each week.

A major confidence-booster for Quinten’s music career occurred in late 2013, when he entered and was selected as one of five winners in Andy Mineo’s “Heroes for Sale” remix contest, hosted by Rapzilla.com. His rock-influenced remix of the song “You Will” appeared on the official remix EP, one of his earliest production credits.

In 2014 he began dating his future wife Nicole, and by late 2015 they were engaged. Quinten’s work situation also took a major turn in 2015, as he began teaching classes at Hartville Christian School (the small local school he had graduated from just three years prior), splitting his time between teaching there, giving private music lessons, and making music at home.

Quinten and Nicole were married in June of 2016, and began their life together in a small apartment in Hartville. Music still wasn’t providing a substantial amount of income, and Quinten doubted at times whether it would turn into a long-term career. Nonetheless, he continued to invest time and energy into it, spending afternoons after school creating and mixing music in his tiny, spare-bedroom studio.

By 2018, Quinten’s music career had finally begun to show promise. He had established a strong client base for mixing, and was gaining more recognition in Christian Hip Hop circles as a singer and producer. He made the decision to quit teaching at the school following the 2017-18 school year and dove full-time into music in June.

In late 2020, Quinten launched Rooftop Audio, expanding his audio engineering workflow and team into a separate brand.

Today, Quinten and Nicole are raising their son and remain active in leadership and youth ministry at their home church in Hartville, Ohio.
